This made me laugh

Calvin Trillin has a new book out, About Alice, so he's on book tour and on the radio. He was just telling a story about his late wife Alice, who was very beautiful.

Trillin was at a fancy dinner party speaking to a very wealthy woman. The woman commented on Alice's beauty and asked "Do you have her painted often?". Not being wealthy himself, Calvin Trillin had a sudden mental image of a guy who had done work on their house, Joe the Painter, standing in from of Alice wielding a roller.

I just love that image!
