Why would you come to look at an apartment complex when you have been told that there are no available apartments for the time you want to move??!? I told the woman that there would be no one-bedrooms available in May, not until August. And she says she'll come and see anyway! Crazy lady.

Maybe she's not in a rush?

Because you are pregnant and you know that you'll be able to make these sorts of visits now, but you know when you have a newborn you'll not be able to get up the energy to leave the house? And your parents are kicking you out of their place but you know you'll be able to hold them off for a few more months if you have someplace else lined up?

Just brainstorming.

But seriously, I'm doing a lot of pre-school searching now for fall 2007 and for fall 2008 because some of the good places already have waiting lists for fall 2008. If there's going to be a wait list for the open unit, maybe she wants to be at the top? Maybe this person is from out-of-town and can only do visits at certain times. They can conceive of spending a few months in a hotel while waiting for the perfect unit to become available, but they want it lined up before their job starts?

I can come up with more crazy explanations. :-)

Hmm, maybe she wants to know if it will be worth waiting for? She can crash elsewhere if need be? She was originally thinking May but can swing August if it's worth it? Or, she finally got up the courage to make the blind call about the apartment and didn't want to look silly by *not* taking a tour even though August won't work for her??
Anyway, I hope it isn't a waste of your time (I'd say hers, too, but she seems set on using her time this way anyway....)

Clarification

I'm used to people looking in February for apartments in August. That's the majority of what I have available and what I do all spring. It's just that this lady specifically asked for May. I told her I didn't have any one-bedroom apartments in May. She said she'd look tomorrow anyway. I told her I could only show her a 2BR tomorrow. She said fine, she'd be there. We'll see tomorrow I guess!
